Terms of Service

Last updated: April 2026. This document is a plain-English summary, not legal advice; please review carefully and contact us with questions.

1. Who we are

Orchard is a community platform for vintage Apple hardware collectors. It is run as a hobby/community service and may or may not be incorporated depending on the current operating arrangement shown on the homepage. By using Orchard you are agreeing to these terms.

2. Your account

  • You must be 13 or older to create an account.
  • You are responsible for keeping your password private and for all activity under your account.
  • You may delete your account at any time through account settings; your personal data will be removed within 30 days.

3. Your content

You own your catalog entries, photos, comments, and wantlist data. By posting content to Orchard, you grant Orchard a non-exclusive, worldwide license to display that content publicly when you have chosen to make it public. You can revoke this license at any time by deleting the content or making it private.

4. Acceptable use

  • No harassment, hate speech, or targeted abuse.
  • No counterfeit listings or stolen goods.
  • No scraping beyond documented rate limits.
  • No uploading content you don’t own or have permission to share.

5. Marketplace transactions

When the marketplace launches, Orchard facilitates transactions between independent buyers and sellers. Orchard is not a party to any transaction. We hold funds in escrow via Stripe Connect and release them according to the dispute window described in the listing terms. Platform fees are disclosed at checkout.

6. Disputes

If you disagree with another user, try to resolve it through our messaging system first. If that fails, you can open a formal dispute in your transaction dashboard. Orchard reserves the right to make a final decision on contested transactions.

7. Serial number verification

Orchard decodes Apple serial numbers to verify manufacturing details. This is informational only and not a guarantee of authenticity. Sellers are responsible for the accuracy of listings.

8. Stolen goods registry

Users may report serials as stolen. Reports are reviewed by Orchard moderators. Reports marked “verified” are relied upon by Orchard to flag potentially-stolen items. If you believe a report is false, contact support.

9. Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or pose a risk to the community.

10. Limitation of liability

Orchard is provided “as is.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, Orchard and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the platform.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms over time. Material changes will be announced by email at least 30 days before taking effect.
