Known quirks
- AMD FirePro D500/D700 GPUs have a documented failure program — free replacements through 2020
- Single thermal core with unified cooling — no internal expansion for GPU upgrades
- Dual-GPU design aged poorly as pro apps moved away from OpenCL
- "Trash can" nickname — compact cylindrical form that sat on desks, not floors
- Apple publicly apologized for this design in 2017
