Known quirks
- Just a mini 2 with Touch ID and gold color — barely an upgrade
- Apple itself buried it, leaving mini 2 on shelves for longer
- Same A7; same display; just Touch ID and a new color
- A rare 'filler' generation — shortest-lived iPad mini
